My #pb10for10 - Picture Books that Encourage & Celebrate Individuality

I’m thrilled to be joining the #pb10for10 fun again this year!  Many thanks to the wonderful hosts: Cathy Mere (Reflect and Refine), Mandy Robeck (Enjoy and Embrace Learning).  I enjoy the challenge of creating a meaningful list for myself and others, as well as reading all the wonderful lists posted by the community.

My past #pb10for10 book collections are:

I've fallen in love some recently published books that encourage and celebrate individuality and differences.  Given recent events, this topic is more important than ever.  Below are the books that I hope parents, teachers, and librarians share with children.  Their stories are important and their messages are invaluable.

1.  Antiracists Baby by Ibram X. Kendi

2.  I Promise by Lebron James

3.  Intersection Allies: We Make Room for All by Chelsea Johnson, Latoya Council & Carolyn Choi

4.  Woke: A Young Poet's Call to Justice by Mahogany L. Browne, Elizabeth Acevedo & Olivia Gatwood

5.  Be You! by Peter Reynolds

6.  You Matter by Christian Robinson

7.  Just Ask! by Sonia Sotormayor

8.  It Feels Good to Be Yourself by Theresa Thorn

9.  The Day You Begin by Jaqueline Woodson

10.  All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold

  1. Jill,
If I’m following correctly this is your sixth year to post. I always look forward to your collections as you never steer me wrong. I’ve added several of your titles to my reserves list. (How did I not know Lebrun James has a book?)

    Hope all is well,
    Cathy
